“It’s a strange feeling, to be dead.”
So begins the tale of our Narrator, a ghost clinging desperately to the memory of life.
Since his death, the ghost has been trapped in a motel room, watching the comings and goings of his nightly guests. The strangers never stay more than a night or two, and they never seem to notice him – no more than he notices them. Wrapped in fading memories of the time he was alive, he drifts through time, waiting for the return of the one person he can still see clearly.
But as time stretches out before him, his frustration begins to build, boiling over into violent anger. When a young couple dares to rent his room for the night, igniting his rage, the ghost finally discovers the true power behind his ghostly form.

The Motel Room A Ghost Story edition by Alyssa Cooper Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
This was not what I expected, as it was so much more. I really liked reading from his perspective and how he felt about "his" room. I was surprised to find that this was a love story, and a well written one at that. I sometimes find the romance part of stories to be corny, but I didn't feel that way at all. Very good story that pulled me in and kept me reading!
In this unique tale, you (The Reader) are placed with the entity in a motel room where the plotline slowly unveils itself to you. I'm almost afraid to say anymore without revealing too much. It's well written, easy to follow and every step of the way I wanted to know more. I read this short story in one day unable to put it down until the end. I was not disappointed. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
This was a pretty well written bitter-sweet little piece. I liked it and enjoyed the interweaving the (partially remembered) backstory with the eternal present that was the ghost's existence. The only complaint I really had was that there was some useless use of verbs (like "stand") but what the heck, the narrator is a ghost.
That little thing aside, the story is pretty quick moving, and has a pretty satisfying and poignant ending.
This is a fantastic short story. I loved the beautiful writing and the imagery. What I loved most was how emotionally connected I felt to the main character in such a short time. The story slowly evolves through flashbacks. The reader can tell what's going to happen, but it's the journey that matters.
Read this! It's beautiful.
Just finished reading this beautifully written short story. I didn't want it to end so I re-read it again. The empathy I felt for the 'ghost' or should I say 'lost' spirit increased on the second reading. I got teary eyed at certain parts in the story (read it, you will know when!) and happy and satisfied at the ending.
I like the way Alyssa Cooper writes and will be adding her to my NTMA list!
This is a beautiful short story. Yes, it's a ghost story, but it's not spooky. Ok maybe just a tiny bit in one part. It is mostly sad but very poignant. It is the story of a ghost who seems to be trapped in a motel room, the last place he went with his wife, before he died, and the feelings he experiences. The old fashioned typewriter on the cover holds special significance for him. The ending is wonderfully peaceful. I enjoyed this story very much and would like to read more by this author.
I received a free e-copy of The Motel Room by Alyssa Cooper. I gave it an almost five star rating. It's a unique ghost story told from the point of view of the ghost.
I REALLY liked this story! I highly recommend it. It's a 'haunting' love story.
The narrating ghost is trapped in a motel room that he views as HIS room. He's submitted to numerous people staying there without his permission. Rage starts to build. A visitor brings a typewriter which triggers more painful memories. He want to slam it into the floor.
Then there is a special visitor who came to wish him Happy Anniversary. He realizes he still loves her. His anger diminishes in her presence. But she doesn't stay. He waits for her return.
